Reflecting on the Polar Plunge Event
On March 22, 2025, Groundworks Canada proudly joined the Durham Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario. Hosted in Durham, ON, the event invited participants to embrace the icy waters for a powerful cause—raising funds and awareness for inclusive sports across the province. Representing the Groundworks Canada team, Logan Watson and his partner stepped up to take the plunge. Their energy and enthusiasm captured the spirit of the day. “It was really fun!” Logan shared after his brisk splash, showing just how much joy and connection moments like these can bring to the community. The event served as a reminder of how small acts—like jumping into cold water—can have a lasting, meaningful impact.
What We Achieved Together
The 2025 Durham Polar Plunge was a heartwarming success, raising a total of $37,020 to support the mission of Special Olympics Ontario. Groundworks Canada was proud to be part of that total, joining local residents, businesses, and supporters in creating something bigger than ourselves. While our team consisted of just two official participants, the reach of our involvement extended far beyond the water. This regional initiative helped amplify the ongoing work being done to uplift more than 23,000 athletes across Ontario through year-round sports, inclusion, and opportunity. Events like this one showcase how much can be accomplished when communities come together with a shared purpose.
